According to a recent Manta survey of more than 1,000 small business owners, nearly 70 percent feel the small business funding environment has not improved over the past year and that there aren’t enough choices available. Most still rely on traditional means (such as bank loans, savings and credit cards), while 23 percent have used an alternative lender other than a bank and only two percent have implemented a crowdfunding campaign. The March 2015 survey indicated some confusion about the alternative funding landscape and a need for more information. For example, only 24 percent of respondents said they would consider a crowdfunding campaign as part of their overall marketing strategy, with 34 percent giving a possible nod if they knew more about it.
